Wow. That was just…wow. I’ve had this book on my shelf for ages now. And can I just say, WHAT THE HELL HAVE I BEEN WAITING FOR ALL THIS DAMN TIME?!
I just kept on delaying and delaying reading this book here, for no logical reason. I just did not expect Cinder to be THIS good. But it was. God, it was.
Marissa Meyer, you are a genius.
The parallels between Cinder and Cinderella were absolutely overwhelming. I was totally awestruck.
And although the plot is pretty much known, the science behind everything was just literally breathtaking. I was envious of Marissa’s ability to create such a powerful world through science fiction and genetics and whatnot.
I really really enjoyed reading this novel.

So yeah, although there are a lot of parallels and common parts between Cinder and Cinderella, there were a helluva lot more to the story than just romance. And to be honest, romance was probably the least of Cinder’s worries throughout the book. And I was surprised to find myself liking the it, because a good romance is the first thing I look for in a book. And that’s partially why I rated this book 5 stars; the fact that it totally captivated me without it including much romance.
I knew that Cinder was the missing Lunar Princess just a couple chapters into the book. Usually, my predictions when reading other books turn out to be wrong and totally random. BUT I KNEW IT. I FRIGGIN’ KNEW IT. So it wasn’t much of a shock at the end when the doctor confronted Cinder. I was absolutely overjoyed to know that my analysis and predictions were true, to say the least.
I don’t know what to expect in the second book. I was honestly looking forward to more Kai-Cinder scenes (that’s me totally not giving up on my love and obsession over romance). It felt to me like it sort of ended with a cliffhanger; did the Queen marry Kai? Did Cinder escape to Africa after all? What happened to her stepmother? Iko?
Oh, and a HUGE shout-out to Iko! One of my favorite characters in this book.
