Waking Olivia Book Review

Book review(

[I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review]
Oh my God. That was a hell of a wild ride. An intense roller coaster of emotions taking over my head while reading this book, which didn’t take me long to finish. I’m a sucker for haters-to-lovers stories. And by haters I mean wanting to rip each other’s throats out kind of hatred. Yeah, I’ll admit it sounds cliche but it’s far from being so. The writer took her time defining and clarifying every single role in the novel, making the reader feel comfortable before hitting them with the plot twists and the mysteries and Olivia’s dark past. It wasn’t slow/fast paced, and I loved that. Although at the end it felt like the author was sort of speeding up through story but I understand her decision after all. I love the originality of the novel and the significance of what Olivia was facing and what she’s been through.
Will reminded me of a lot of characters from other novels (like Noah from the Mara Dyer Series, Will from Slammed, and Tobias from Divergent, and Cole from The Bad Boy’s Girl), but at the end I realized that really he doesn’t resemble any of them and he’s just another gorgeous character of his own. I won’t lie, the forbidden Coach/Student relationship was such a turn on, and was a great reason to why the story was that hot and steamy. And the honesty between Olivia and Will made me realize that a ton of other fictional couples from other novels completely lack that. I loved Brendan and how he’d do random stuff and partner up with Olivia just to piss Will off. And the relationship between Olivia and Will’s mom was irresistibly charming; the way Olivia would let her guard down and go soft when she’s around his mother. AND THE EPILOGUE MADE MY EYES FILL UP WITH TEARS, I love a sugarcoated ending, which wasn’t really sugarcoated but just genuinely merry and heartwarming. I know it doesn’t leave any space for a sequel but I honestly don’t want to let go of such a good story and enjoyable characters this fast.5

“That girl isn’t just trouble of the not-a-team-player, not-a-reliable-runner variety. She’s trouble of the devious, manipulative, too-f***ing-hot-for-her-own good variety. She’s the kind of girl who causes trouble merely by existing, and then makes sure to cause more.
And the last thing I need right now is more trouble.”

A failing farm.
His father’s debt.
And a struggling college track team.
Will Langstrom has too many responsibilities, and the last thing he needs is Olivia Finnegan, a beautiful but troubled new transfer student.

A smart mouth.
A strong right hook.
And a secret that could destroy her.
Olivia is her own worst enemy, with a past she can’t seem to escape, and the last person she wants help from is a cocky track coach she can never seem to please.
Refusing to be pushed away, Will is determined to save her.
And determined to resist an attraction that could destroy them both.
