May is finally coming to an end, and June is on it’s way. Which means that summer is just around the corner. My idea of a great summer is lounging lazily in a pool chair with some tanning oil, lemon iced tea, a good summer playlist, enjoyable company, and last, but certainly not least, a good book.
So here’s a pretty quick list of books that belong in that beach bag!
Fireworks by Katie Cotugno // Book Review
A story that’s set back in the 90’s in Florida about a girl who finds herself at the edge of stardom when she’s least expecting it.
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen // Book Review
A fluffy Sarah Dessen book about an insomniac girl who finds solace in a foreign town.
Legacy by Hannah Fielding // Book Review
A swoon-worthy and super hot book about a girl whose life changes drastically when she moves to Spain..
I love a good coming-of-age YA book. And this one was just sooo good. It’s about a girl who takes her sister’s place as a senior citizens’ tour guide across Europe.
When We Collided by Emery Lord // Book Review
A beautiful book about a girl dealing with a serious mental illness, and how she finds herself tangled up with a grieving boy in his own hometown.
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
This one is about a shy girl whose best-friend leaves her with nothing but a summer to-do list.
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson // Book Review
A heartbreakingly beautiful book about a girl trying to overcome her grief through music, poetry, love and family.
Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
A roadtrip across the States! I loved this book to pieces. I’ve been to some of the places this book mentioned, so it was great seeing everything I’ve known from a different angle.
My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick // Book Review
A swoony-romantic book that focuses on familial love more than anything else.
So what do you think about the list? Will you be reading any of those books this summer? Would you add any other book to the beach bag? Let me know!
Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour is such a great summer book!! I tend to love road trip books in general, but this one is especially adorable ❤ Great list!

That’s actually the only road trip book I know! Do you have other recommendations?? 😍

John Green has written some pretty good road trips– especially the end of Paper Towns and the beginning An Abundance of Katherines.

Oh my, I can’t believe I forgot to mention those!! I read them both 4 years ago and totally forgot about them 😂 This is so embarrassing

I loved My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick! It is one of a rare breed where a family is portrayed as being healthy and happy! Great list!

Ahh I couldn’t have said it better myself! I totally agree, I have a soft spot for such books. It’s sad how such portrayals are hard to find in novels, these days…

I just bought my first Morgan Matson book after a recommendation from a friend. I’m so excited!
Thank you for this. I am saving it for when I go to the beach this summer.

Thanks Nadwa! Now I am in a summer and contemporary mood, but in reality it’s raining, cold and I’m reading historical fantasy! Talk about opposites! Great list, I’ll definitely add these to my list!

Oh my God 😂 Don’t worry, most of the Christmas-themed books I’ve read were read in summer 😂 So trust me, it doesn’t get worse than that. Thank you, Rendz! 😍

Shame on me, I’ve read none of these books! It’s a great list!
Many have been on my TBR for ages though! I am considering reading The Sky is Everywhere during the summer along with some “heavy” classics.
Can’t wait!

It’s a great opportunity to read them this summer, then! I strongly recommend reading The Sky Is Everywhere 😍 Try I’ll Give You The Sun afterwards, too. Jandy Nelson is amazing!

Ah this is such a good list! I honestly want to read pretty much all of these books. I’ve been trying to find more perfect summer books so this has been very helpful! I think I most want to read ‘since you’ve been gone’ because it’s been on my TBR forever and ‘when we collided’ because I just read the names they gave us and it was amazing so now I want to read everything ever written by emery lord! Great list ❤️

Ahh yes! Those two books are both incredible! Haven’t read The Names They Gave Us but I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about it, so I’ll definitely be adding it to my TBR!
