Words and Phrases I Use Devotedly as a Book Blogger

Words and Phrases I Use Devotedly

goodobjects

It’s been a while since I’ve written a post that isn’t a book review or a tag. I’ve been having a reviewing slump lately. Which is as terrifying and as frustrating as it sounds. But I’ve been thinking about how annoying my tweeting/blogging/Goodreads-ing habits are. Especially when it comes to my overuse of GIFs and certain words and phrases that I’ve realized are extremely irritating. Needless to say, those are my primordial blogging/fangirling tools. So getting rid of those habits will be almost impossible. So without further ado, here’s my list of words and phrases I use rather devotedly as a book blogger.

  • literally: i do not want to talk about this one. It’s one of my favorite words; it fills up awkward spaces in book reviews and blog posts and comments. It’s embarrassing how much I use this word. I always have to check whatever I’ve written to make sure I didn’t use it more than twice. And if I did, I would most likely replace it with a totally, when it fits.
  • omg/omigahd/oh my god (usually used in all caps): I usually stick this word/phrase anywhere and everywhere I see fit.
  • I can’t even/whateven (also used in all caps): I usually use this when I’m swooning over a ship.
  • AHHHHHH/Ohhhhhh: I use this one when I’m relating to someone 😂 Like, “AHHHHHH I agree!” You’d know how it goes if I’d ever commented on a blog post of yours.
  • friggin: I hate dropping the F-bomb. I also feel like ‘freaking’ is lame? Friggin is, like, a mashup between those two words.
  • [I’m sobbing]: I’m usually not. Used to express very intense emotions.
  • dammit/damn: my fangirl soul loves this word very dearly
  • swooning: my insides would be basically melting at something that usually my ship/otp has done. P.S. I’d actually be at the verge of swooning.

Words worthy of mentioning, too: ship/otp/dnf/tbr/ARC

Do you use any of the word/phrases I’ve mentioned? Which ones do you use the most? Are you as obsessed with GIFs as I am? Let me know in the comments-section below!

DUDE I TOTALLY USE THE WORD OMG TOO!!! My big one is obviously because I just sound so sassy. Like OBVIOUSLY you should know this. 😜 I also use the word “like” a lot. Too much. I need to stop. 😂 I actually feel like friggin is “lame”??? And I don’t swear (unless it slips out 😂) so I use “freaking” as a replacement. TBR is definitely a word I use a lot and AGH I have so many reusable gifs. 😍

Ahh!! I love this! I use totally/literally all the time, it’s becoming sickening for me to even reread some of my posts. I’ve tried to replace it with ‘absolutely’ and ‘utterly’ but now I’m stuck overusing those terms too!
I tend to go off on a lot of tangents when I’m writing my posts depending on the mood I’m in and when I catch myself doing this I usually apologize in my post using parenthesis… I do this all the time! I’m pretty sure my readers are getting sick of it by now! lol
Great post, I look forward to reading more from you in the future – Happy Reading 🙂

I say “definitely” a lot? I have to go back and delete like half of them whenever I post anything. XD

I’m planning to do a post on book blogging jargon at some point (ARC, OTP, TBR, etc.) because I know I was clueless about everything when I started and was constantly Googling.
