My New-found Love For Anime & Why You Should Give It A Shot // My Favorite Series

Anime- My Latest ObsessionHi guys I miss you so much and I miss blogging and I miss the annoying little shit that is WordPress (I do). I decided to check in today because, well, I’ve got a lot of things to say.

Yes, I’m still on hiatus, but this is one of the promised check-in-posts that I mentioned in my hiatus post. I just want to spill my heart out about my new obsession that is anime. I’m HOOKED, dude. Ok so I sort of lied? I also came here to ask you guys to PLEASE WATCH THESE SHOWS BECAUSE THEY’RE AWESOME AND I NEED AN ANIME GROUP TO FANGIRL WITH. Anyways, without further ado, let me list the anime I watched in the past two weeks.

First off, before I start fangirling and losing my shit, I’d like to thank the lovely Sophie @blameitonchocolate for making me a list of her fav anime and simply, for putting up with my insanity.

For the ones who have never watched anime, I recommend you start with Ouran High School Host Club. I got tagged to do the Ouran Host Club book tag a couple of months ago, and I didn’t even know what the word anime meant back then. But I decided to give that show a shot since, well, I did a tag about it. And let me just say, it was amazing. It was really really good. Although that wasn’t my first thought when I first starting watching it. Here’s the epic transformation:

  1. This is stupid why am I watching cartoons?
  2. A girl disguised as a boy? This is getting old.
  3. Their jokes are silly wtf.
  4. omg that was cute.
  6. I never want this to end.
  7. LMAO
  8. this was the best thing i’ve ever watched

Okay, so this might not be 100% accurate in your case. BUT, I still want to convince you guys WHY anime is important:

  1. I love the idea of getting to know other cultures and understanding people with different traditions and beliefs than mine. Anime is Japanese, in case you didn’t know.
  2. I marvel at how the artist gives every fixation their absolute attention and time. Like how the character blushes when they’re shy or embarrassed, or how their eyes water and so on. It may not seem that important to you, but to me, it feels like actual series can’t pay attention to such details. The very same details an author writes in any novel. I’ve never seen such vivid actions and details portrayed so beautifully as I do through anime.
  3. I love how simple romantic relationships are in anime. Like how intimate a mere peck on the cheek is. But even that can make you swoon and melt into a puddle of goo. I don’t know how they do it.
  4. It’s amazing.
  5. because i said so.

I was going to list the anime I watched, so here we go:

Snow White with the Red Hair aka Akagami no Shirayuki-hime ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Image result for Snow White with the Red HairThis is definitely one of my favorites. The MC, Shirayuki, is such a light-hearted and inspiring person. Plus, she studies medicinal herbs and I’m an aspiring pharmacist so… you know. She’s just awesome. The characters are all super cute and lovely, the love interest is just AFKJHJHJHJHJHJ. The sarcasm is so on point.

⇒ Kamisama Hajimemashita ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Image resultTHIS is the cutest anime I’ve come across. If you want something light and swoony this is perfect for you.

Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hilarious. Cute. The couple are head over heels in love but the MC refuses to admit it to herself and you can see how the story unravels from there. Lots of bickering and fighting. BRING IT ON.

Romeo x Juliet ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Historical. Incredibly romantic. Super badass. Life wrecking. Heart shattering. PREPARE TO DIE. (finished this today)

P.S. I started a couple of other anime and then DNF’d them.

Do you watch anime? If you do, what are your favorites? If you don’t, YOU BETTER START NOW. No seriously, you totally should.

Hahaha omg your thoughts when watching that Host Club anime where the same as mine when I started watching Yuri! On Ice – “this is stupid” and then 5 mins later “omg this is amazing” (watch this show)

ALSO PLS PLS PLS WATCH Avatar: The Last Airbender (or I think it’s called Avatar: The Legend of Aang, now). It’s not really anime – they speak in English – but it has anime feels. It is seriously one of the best shows I’ve ever watched and the character development is OFF THE FREAKING CHARTS. pleaaassseee watch this and I’ll watch all the shows you recommended 💕 Romeo and Juliet looks awesome

OMG YES TO ALL OF THE ABOVE!! I’m so happy you enjoyed all of these, Nadwa, and especially the ones I recommended to you ❤ That makes me so glad T_T
I LOVE Kaichou Wa Maid Sama *_* I started the manga first and only afterwards watched the anime but OMG it's just so adorable I can't!!! I love the enemies to lovers/bickering couple trope and this one nailed it completely – not only is Usui the sweetest, hottest anime character ever but he and Misaki are so perfect together ❤ ❤
I hope more bookworms/bloggers try anime because I do want to fangirl with a lot more people too and also write about anime on the blog a lot more! I have like two posts and even though I haven't watched a lot of it lately, I plan on doing so very soon.
So yeah, awesome post and do know that we're in this obsession together 😂😂

YASSSS! I’m not sure if my local bookstore sells Manga but after watching these shows, I’d literally cross oceans to get my hands on some! OH MY GOD Usui is just AFJHJKJKH (I’m so into quiet, introverted guys with a good sense of humor) AND NOW I WANT TO WATCH THE SHOW ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Taking the decision to start anime wasn’t an easy one, to be honest. I was totally judging the book by its cover at first. I’ve seen people talk about anime online every now and then, but I was always like, why would a grown person watch cartoons? Totally stupid of me to even think that. But I believe we should change the way people look at anime. I’m pretty sure that a lot of people out there currently see anime the way I used to. I’m going to have to check out those posts of yours when I get the chance, then!! Well, there’s you and me and Laura @thebookcorps and icebreaker694, those are the only anime fangirls I’m aware of right now 😂
Yes!! *insert HSM’s ‘We’re All In This Together’ GIF here* 😝

Hmm I kind of never thought about it as “grown ups watching cartoons”. I guess because I grew up watching anime? And as I became older it just felt like watching any other show or movie? It’s funny how different upbringings create different perspectives!
Some people take pride in trashing anime and those who watch it, with no idea of what they’re talking about, which I despise. But if you’re someone who’s willing to give anime a try and isn’t a complete ass about it, then I will most definitely want to give out some recs ^^
Oh I know a couple other fans, but most of them are anime bloggers and aren’t really into books hahaha So yeah… I love our little group, though! 😀
        Hahahaha 😅😅

OMG, you watched Ouran? I loved that anime (and the manga was great too!) I may not have seen any of the others in your list, but man, do I love Ouran. My reactions were very similar to yours, haha.
I recommend Studio Ghibli, which makes AMAZING movies, and for you I recommend either Castle in the Sky, Whisper of the Heart, or Howl’s Moving Castle to start with. Any of those I think you’d like.
What other genres do you like?

Ouran is amazing :’) I’ve watched it twice in the past couple of months lol. Ohh thank you so much! I’ll definitely check those out. I actually haven’t gotten around to watching any anime movies?!! I’m really into romance and comedy, anything cute and heart-warming will do! And I really recommend the ones on my list!

Hehe…you should also check out the manga. It actually has an ending.
You NEED to watch Studio Ghibli, at least my recommendations. I think you would like them! And oh gosh…I tend to watch more fantasy or psychological thriller ones…so…I don’t really have any recommendations outside of Ghibli. 😅 I’ll be sure to check out your recommendations!
